Cadillac unveils Obama’s ‘Beast’, the 2009 Presidential State Car

Saturday, January 17, 2009

The US Secret Service has released the first photos Wednesday of the new presidential limousine that will transport Barack Obama down Pennsylvania Avenue next Tuesday as part of the 56th Presidential inaugural parade after he is sworn in at the Capitol. The First Limo – the 2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine – will replace President Bush’s Cadillac DTS Presidential Limousine that rolled out in 2004.

Nicknamed “The Beast”, the hulking machine is a new model year 2009, modified limousine. According to General Motors, the new “2009 Cadillac Presidential Limousine” is the first not to carry a specific model name. The Obama Mobile was introduced on January 14 with noticeably different styling borrowed from the Cadillac Escalade and STS, while the suspension is most likely related to the Chevrolet Kodiak medium-duty truck.

Mr. David Caldwell of General Motors has revealed that the sleek black car would include a hand-crafted interior and “state of the art electronics.” The car’s high-tech security features include five-inch-thick (12.7-centimeter-thick) bombproof glass, tough-as-nails tires, and a sealed interior that’s invulnerable to chemical attack. The armoured limousine has been heavily modified to withstand potential attacks by weapons or bombs. The San Francisco Chronicle puts it in a proper perspective noting, “a half-inch of transparent armor is enough to stop a .44 Magnum round at point-blank range; at a thickness of 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches, the same material can withstand higher-velocity bullets fired from military assault rifles.”

According to spy photographer, Brenda Priddy, and General Motors, the limousine, which has the intricate, dual-textured grille, is also equipped with standard Goodyear Regional RHS truck tires in a 285/70R19.5 size, on 19.5-inch wheels. The rims have a run-flat device (manufactured by Hutchinson Industries). Xenon headlights from the Escalade are installed in the front, while the rear has some STS part. The doors are at least 20 centimeters (8 inches) thick. It carries the US flag on the front fenders and an embroidered Seal of the President of the United States is affixed to several panels in the back.

According to the US Secret Service, the vehicle would be a “valuable asset” in providing the President with the highest level of protection. “Although many of the vehicle’s security enhancements cannot be discussed, it is safe to say that this car’s security and coded communications systems make it the most technologically advanced protection vehicle in the world,” Nicholas Trotta, Assistant Director for the Office of Protective Operations said in a statement. The new limousine is the responsibility of White House Transportation Agency.

One of the specifications is that we don’t talk about the specifications.

The Presidential State Car is the official state car used by the President of the United States. It is informally known as “Cadillac One”. The current Presidential State Car is a 2005 hand-crafted, armored, and stretched DTS (DeVille Touring Sedan) built on a GM four-wheel drive platform. It was first used on the second inauguration parade of George W. Bush in 2005. But the version to be used by President Obama uses a GMC Topkick chassis, while maintaining the Cadillac exterior.

The President of the United States travels in one of two armoured Cadillac limousines based upon the normal sedan, the Cadillac DTS, with heavy customisation. Lincoln cars have also been used in the past, most notably by President John F Kennedy. The current limousines were custom-built by O’Gara, Hess and Eisenhart, founded in Fairfield, Ohio in 1942. It specializes in armouring limousines for presidents and heads of state.

President William McKinley was the first US president to ride in an automobile. However, it was President Theodore Roosevelt who rode on the first government-owned car, a white Stanley Steamer. Roosevelt’s successor, William Howard Taft, was the first president to use a presidential state car that was permanently stored in the White House garage.

Meanwhile, Obama’s 2005 Chrysler 300C Hemi was auctioned on eBay with a starting bid of $100,000 and a buy-it-now price of $1,000,000. It has less than 21,000 miles on it and is in like-new condition. He leased the car in 2004 and traded it for a Ford Escape Hybrid in 2007. The car was sold to Tim O’Boyle.

What Is Virtual Tape Library?

What is virtual tape library?

by

Jamie Hanson

Virtual Tape Library is a back up method, which combines tape back up emulation software with the hard disk and improves back up and recovery solution. VTL is quicker, flexible, consistent and cost effective. The virtual tape appliance emulates traditional tape devices. VTL functions with a disk-to-disk back up and commonly known as VTL D2D.

The virtual tape library provides all facilities of conventional tape methodology. It is fast and accessing files is almost instant. Moreover, using disk arrays one can store data more than one terabyte. Remote stations or work stations which are allied or configured will be able to access the virtual tape library without employing more workforce. It works as a back up for both hard disk and tape. The cartridges should be removed from the location to a safer place for maximum security. In case of theft, fire, or any untoward incident the VTL will be there to rebuild the system.

The recovery time in a physical library is time consuming and VTL is much faster. The technology of tape use has become outdated as they have an expiry date for a limited period. Thus for back up system organizations are using VTL. The only disadvantage of VTL is it occupies considerable disk space. If only the data can be compressed then the cost may reduce to some extent. The compression appliances are also existing today.

In future VTL will use an aggressive compression method. This will allow data compression and side by side keeps track of the blocks it has stored to identify in future. For SME some companies have developed VTL storage system for disk storage, optical storage, etc. This is an expanding stage of VTL.

Recently customers have started realizing the value of VTL and have started deploying it. VTL resolves the complex storage network system. To be specific virtualization provides a storage system as if it is in a single drive. The virtual system and the host share the same software. Multiple systems can function with one physical computer.

An organization can have a computer with high processing power and sufficient memory and by adopting virtualization can run multiple operating systems. This is a very productive and cost saving method to adopt.

The iSCSI SAN Virtual storage server is a cost saving investment for company expansion. Conventional storage system has limited capacity and when you think to upgrade all what is essential is to install iSAN module to the existing server. It increases storage capacity of the system.

For a perfect back up of data from the hard disk adopt

iSCSI virtual tape

and to enhance the existing storage, the best available is

U.S. Congress passes CAFTA with 2 vote House margin

Thursday, July 28, 2005

The U.S. House of Representatives approved the Central American Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA) early morning Thursday, with a narrow vote of 217 in favor, 215 against. Voting was held open for an hour, 45 minutes past the House’s 15-minute voting rule as the President along with other supporters lobbied into the night.

The vote was so close, if one House member changed a “Yea” vote to a “Nay” vote, CAFTA would have failed in a 216-216 tie.

In tallying the votes, 25 Republicans, mostly from Midwest Corn Belt and Rust Belt states and the Southeast United States’s textile industrial belt, broke party line to vote against the measure. Two Republicans were present, but refused to vote.

The Democrats presented a more united front. All but 15 Democrats present voted against the treaty. Independent House members, who usually vote with the Democrats also voted against the measure.

Supporters of the measure include President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman and Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez. Opponents included most House Democrats.

The trade agreement already passed the Senate in June. President Bush has said he will sign it into law.

DR-CAFTA encompasses the following components:

 • Services: all public services are to be open to private investment.
 • Investment: governments promise to grant ironclad guarantees to foreign investment.
 • Government procurement: All government purchases must be open to transnational bids.
 • Market access: governments pledge to reduce and eventually to eliminate tariffs and other measures that protect domestic products.
 • Agriculture: duty-free import and elimination of subsidies]] on agricultural products.
 • Intellectual property rights: privatization of and monopoly over technological know-how.
 • Anti-dumping]] rules, subsidies and countervailing rights: governments commit to phase out protectionist barriers in all sectors.
 • Competition policy: the dismantling of national monopolies.
 • Dispute resolution: the right of transnationals to sue countries in private international courts.
 • Environmental protection: the enforcement of environmental laws and improvement of the environment.
 • Labor standards: the enforcement of the International Labour Organization’s core labor standards.
 • Transparency: the reduction of government corruption.
 • Test-Data Exclusivity for pharmaceutical corporations

Race to save Chilean miners trapped underground from spiralling into depression continues

Thursday, September 2, 2010

It has emerged that the 33 Chilean miners trapped underground after the mine they were working in collapsed could be brought to the surface in a shorter time than was initially feared. While officials publicly announced that the men would not be brought to the surface until Christmas, sources inside technical meetings have revealed that they could in fact be on the surface by early November. The news comes as families were allowed to speak by radio-telephone to their trapped loved ones on Sunday. Over the weekend, video images filmed by the miners emerged showing the miners playing dominoes at a table and singing the Chilean national anthem. The miners also used the camera to send video messages to their families on the surface, saying that they regularly broke into tears, but were feeling better having received food and water.

The grainy nightvision images, filmed on a high definition camcorder that was sent down a small shaft to the mine, show the men in good spirits, chanting “long live Chile, and long live the miners.” They are unshaven and stripped to the waist because of the heat underground, and are seen wearing white clinical trousers that have been designed to keep them dry. Giving a guided tour of the area they are occupying, Mario Sepúlveda, one of the miners, explains they have a “little cup to brush our teeth”, and a place where they pray each day. “We have everything organized,” he tells the camera. Gesturing to the table in the center of the room, he says that “we meet here every day. We plan, we have assemblies here every day so that all the decisions we make are based on the thoughts of all 33.” Another unidentified miner asks to rescuers, “get us out of here soon, please.” A thermometer is shown in the video, reading 29.5C (85F).

As the film continues, it becomes evident that the miners have stuck a poster of a topless woman on the wall. The miners appear shy, and one man puts his hand to his face, presumably dazzled by the light mounted on the cameraman’s helmet. One miner sent a message to his family. “Be calm”, he says. “We’re going to get out of here. And we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your efforts.” Another said that the miners are “sure that there are people here in Chile that are big people, that are powerful people, that are intelligent people, and they have the technology and they will all work together to get us out of here.” Speaking to the camera, one says: “we have had the great fortune that trapped in this mine there are good, professional people. We have electricians, we have mechanics, we have machine operators and we will let you know that while you are working to rescue us on the surface, we are down here ready to help you too.” It has been reported that Mario Gómez, 63, has become the group’s “spiritual leader”, having worked in the mines for over fifty years. He has requested that materials to build a shrine be sent down to the cavern.

Upon seeing the video in a private screening, family members, who are living in a small village of tents at the entrance to the San José copper-gold mine—which they have named Camp Hope—were elated. “He’s skinny, bearded and it was painful to see him with his head hanging down, but I am so happy to see him alive”, said Ruth Contreras, the mother of Carlos Bravo, who is trapped in the mine. The video, of which only a small portion has been released to the public, shows the miners, many of them wearing helmets, cracking jokes and thanking the rescuers for their continued efforts. The supplies are being sent to the men through a small shaft only twelve centimeters wide, and a laboratory has been set up with the purpose of designing collapsible cots and miniature sandwiches, which can be sent down such a narrow space.

CNN reported on Friday that “officials are splitting the men into two shifts so one group sleeps while the other works or has leisure time .. On average, each man has lost 22 pounds (10 kilograms) since they became trapped three weeks ago, and dehydration remains a threat. But a survey of the men indicates that at least nine miners are still too overweight to fit through the proposed rescue shaft. Initially, the miners survived by draining water from a water-cooled piece of equipment. To stay hydrated in the 90-degree mine, each miner must drink eight or nine pints of water per day.”

But while there are jubilant celebrations on the surface that the miners are alive, officials are now nervous that the miners could become depressed, trapped in a dark room the size of a small apartment. Chilean health minister Jaime Mañalich said that, on the video, he saw the telltale signs of depression. “They are more isolated, they don’t want to be on the screen, they are not eating well”, he said. “I would say depression is the correct word.” He said that doctors who had watched the video had observed the men suffering from “severe dermatological problems.” Dr. Rodrigo Figueroa, head of the trauma, stress and disaster unit at the Catholic University in Santiago, Chile, explained that “following the euphoria of being discovered, the normal psychological reaction would be for the men to collapse in a combination of fatigue and stress … People who are trained for emergencies – like these miners – tend to minimize their own needs or to ignore them. When it is time to ask for help, they don’t.” NASA has advised emergency workers that entertaining the miners would be a good idea. They are to be sent a television system complete with taped football matches. Another dilemma facing Mañalich is whether the miners should be permitted to smoke underground. While nicotine gum has been delivered to the miners, sending down cigarettes is a plan that has not been ruled out.

With the news that drilling of the main rescue tunnel was expected to begin on Monday, officials have informed the media that they hope to have the miners out of the mine by Christmas—but sources with access to technical meetings have suggested that the miners could actually be rescued by the first week of November. A news report described the rescue plan—”the main focus is a machine that bores straight down to 688m and creates a chimney-type duct that could be used to haul the miners out one by one in a rescue basket. A second drilling operation will attempt to intercept a mining tunnel at a depth of roughly 350m. The miners would then have to make their way through several miles of dark, muddy tunnels and meet the rescue drill at roughly the halfway point of their current depth of 688m.” Iván Viveros Aranas, a Chilean policeman working at Camp Hope, told reporters that Chile “has shown a unity regardless of religion or social class. You see people arriving here just to volunteer, they have no relation at all to these families.”

But over the weekend, The New York Times reported that the “miners who have astonished the world with their discipline a half-mile underground will have to aid their own escape — clearing 3,000 to 4,000 tons of rock that will fall as the rescue hole is drilled, the engineer in charge of drilling said Sunday … The work will require about a half-dozen men working in shifts 24 hours a day.” Andrés Sougarret, a senior engineer involved in operating the drill said that “the miners are going to have to take out all that material as it falls.”

The families of those trapped were allowed to speak to them by radio-telephone on Sunday—a possibility that brought reassurance both the miners and those on the surface. The Intendant of the Atacama Region, Ximena Matas, said that there had been “moments of great emotion.” She continued to say that the families “listened with great interest and they both felt and realized that the men are well. This has been a very important moment, which no doubt strengthens their [the miners’] morale.” The phone line is thought to be quite temperamental, but it is hoped that soon, those in the mine and those in Camp Hope will be able to talk every day. “To hear his voice was a balm to my heart … He is aware that the rescue is not going to happen today, that it will take some time. He asked us to stay calm as everything is going to be OK … He sounded relaxed and since it was so short I didn’t manage to ask anything. Twenty seconds was nothing”, said said Jessica Cortés, who spoke to her husband Víctor Zamora, who was not even a miner, but a vehicle mechanic. “He went in that day because a vehicle had broken down inside the mine … At first they told us he had been crushed [to death].”

Esteban Rojas sent up a letter from inside the mine, proposing to his long-time partner Jessica Yáñez, 43. While they have officially been married for 25 years, their wedding was a civil service—but Rojas has now promised to have a church ceremony which is customary in Chile. “Please keep praying that we get out of this alive. And when I do get out, we will buy a dress and get married,” the letter read. Yáñez told a newspaper that she thought he was never going to ask her. “We have talked about it before, but he never asked me … He knows that however long it takes, I’ll wait for him, because with him I’ve been through good and bad.”

Restrictions imposed in China textile trade with U.S.

Saturday, May 21, 2005

In an effort to ease complaints by the U.S. and Europe about a heavy influx of low priced Chinese goods, China will raise export tariffs on 74 categories of textile products in June. This follows plans from the U.S. to impose quotas on Chinese textiles and clothing.

Products likely to see an increase from the Chinese move include synthetic fiber shirts, trousers, knit shirts and blouses, cotton shirts, and combined cotton yarn. Last week, similar restrictions were imposed by the U.S. on cotton trousers, knit shirts, and underwear. Currently, a 2.5 cent charge per item is imposed; the new tariff will raise this to the equivalent of 12 cents per piece now. While this is a fourfold increase, it is not expected to affect consumer prices. Because of this, some doubt the tariff will have any effect on correcting the trade imbalance.

This move is in response to U.S. trade quotas imposed due to concerns that increased Chinese goods would put U.S. textile manufacturers out of business. According to Auggie Tantillo, executive director of the American Manufacturing Trade Action Coalition, a textile industry group in the U.S., the move will preserve 10,000 U.S. jobs. The new U.S. trade quota will limit the growth of Chinese textile imports to 7.5 percent compared with shipments over the past year.

Prior to January 1, a global quota system helped regulate the trade. With the quota system gone, fears have arisen that a flood of Chinese goods could undercut U.S. competitiveness in the market. China is able to market its goods cheaply due to an artificially weak yuan. The U.S. Treasury criticized the China yuan policy as “highly distortionary”, posing a major risk to China’s economy itself and to global economic growth. They challenged China to revalue its currency to bring it to a level they believe will allow fairer competition between global manufacturers.

China has disputed the charges of the U.S. Treasury. Chinese Commerce Minister Bo Xilai said, “I believe they are not reasonable”.

Laura Jones, a representative of large retailers, also criticized the move, saying “These restrictions on imports from China will do absolutely nothing to help the U.S. textile industry — and the government knows it.”

China has seen a boom in economic growth in recent years due to growing trade surpluses with the West, but economists worry that the trade gap will cause longer term global economic problems. China’s textile and apparel exports are the most noteworthy example, with exports up over 1,000 percent in some categories this year and the rapid loss of marketshare and jobs by U.S. textile manufacturers.

Beginning in 1978, the Chinese economy has been transforming from a Soviet-style centrally planned economy to more of a free market style system, under the rigid political control of Communist Party of China.

To this end, the government has leveraged foreign trade to stimulate economic growth. The result has been a fourfold increase in GDP, making China the sixth largest economy in the world. By 2012 the People’s Republic of China may have the highest GDP in the world.

According to U.S. statistics, from 1999 to 2004 China’s trade surplus with the U.S. doubled to $170 billion. Wal-Mart is China’s seventh largest export partner, just ahead of the United Kingdom.

However, the gains from their “socialist market economy” have not been without problems. The Chinese leadership has often experienced the worst results of socialism and capitalism: bureaucracy, lassitude, corruption, and inflation. Inflation rates have been an on-going challenge, reaching as high as 17% in 1995.

Environmental deterioration is a longer-term threat to economic growth. In 1998, the World Health Organization reported that China had seven of the 10 most-polluted cities on Earth. Another concern among some economists is that China’s economy is over-heating, and due to its global economic expansion this could have major repercussions among other nations.

Typically, wages have been low and working conditions poor, with workers living in restrictive dormitories and working at boring factory jobs. However, recent labor shortages have started improving conditions, and raising the minimum wage towards the equivalent of 100-150 US dollars per month. The labor shortages are in part a result of a demographic trend caused by strict family planning.

What is a False Alarm?

The explanation of a False Alarm inopportunely is dependent upon your particular perspective. In general context, it is the indecorous reporting of a failure to the operator of the equipment or system. In tackling the world of possibilities that could compromise the proper reporting of a failure, DSI has come over one specific cause and the primary contributor to the experience of False Alarms, which is the Diagnostic-Induced False Alarms, or more simply Diagnostic False Alarms.

Diagnostic False Alarms

The text book example of a Diagnostic False Alarm is, for instance, when the diagnostic equipment (usually, on-board BIT) misreports the functional status (test results) of whatever the sensor is developed to be finding in its Test Coverage. If the sensor itself was really failing while the sensed function was basically correctly working, then this would be a textbook case of a diagnostic-induced false alarm. These will generally the outcome when any sensor is in diagnostic ambiguity with the function of the hardware it was supposed to be sensing. As a result, the diagnostic design was inadequate and thus unable to isolate the hardware function from the faulty sensor.

A False Alarm rate, like any metric based upon generating values using a measurement of rate, is more suitably considered using a stochastic means, thus depicting random variables and any vicissitudes likely to happen over time.

The Diagnostic False Alarm rate is a metric that considers both the diagnostic integrity of the design, and the sustainment lifecycle by using feigning the eXpress Diagnostic Design of the fielded system in the STAGE operational support simulation environment.

Although a conventional deliverable of a Testability or Reliability examination product may give a blushing picture of a designs diagnostic, reliability or maintainability shrewdness, the actual experience in the sustainment lifecycle could be alarmingly conflicting. For instance, designs that are considered as meeting product assessment criteria in such areas as FD/FI, FA, FSA, MTBF, MTBUM, etc., may lead to disturbing and opposite outcomes in a diagnostic simulation.

Many findings evolve when diagnostic restraints are considered in simulation that depiction, for example, the incapability to isolate between critical failures modes at lower levels of the design, as discussed above. Given that, there are various intrinsic operational and diagnostic expectations that are unknowingly overlooked in any design-based assessment product that fails to consider the diagnostic impact upon the support of the fielded design over time. The STAGE simulation seamlessly reveals such limitations, and expectantly early enough in design development to impact design decisions to augment sustainment effectiveness and value.

When components are being replaced in any maintenance process, the federation of the design of components may shine in solving one design goal but may be a major cost stimulant in sustainment. This generally caused by such corrective actions that resort to replacements of non-failed components along with presumed-to-be-failed components due to lack of unambiguous isolation means. Diagnostic ambiguity results when the Diagnostic Integrity of the design (net Test Coverage) is not well defined. In eXpress, the Test Coverage can be exhaustively validated early in design development or at any time during the product lifecycle(s).

False Alarm Analysis can be done by the proper reporting of a failure to the operators of the equipment or systems to reduce false alarms. To know more, Visit:- https://www.dsiintl.com/solutions/reduce-false-alarms-system-aborts/

As Sex Abuse Scandals Mount, A Mennonite Church Prepares to Punish Dissidents

On August 3, 2022, a nonprofit organization collaborating with current and former members of Church of God in Christ Mennonite, published a report showing that clergy at Church of God in Christ Mennonite congregations have repeatedly failed to report sexual abuse of minors. As pressure from current and former members mounts, internal documents show that the church now plans to “Strengthen the doctrinal practices that have been weakened with the passage of time.” Among those practices is what they call “Scriptural avoidance”, the shunning of former members.

On August 11, 2021, Leslie Toews of Clayton, Wisconsin was charged with second degree sexual assault of a child. According to court records, both the perpetrator and victim were members of a Church of God in Christ Mennonite congregation near Almena, Wisconsin. Ministers at the congregation told Detective Mary Dexter, of the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, that the victim came to them in 2017 and told them that Mr. Toews had sexually abused her for about a year when she was 13 years old. Sentencing hearing transcripts show that the perpetrator had young children at the time and that the abuse sometimes took place while they were present. Ministers at the Almena church admitted to Detective Dexter that, upon learning of the abuse, they met with the perpetrator, who confirmed that the allegations were true. However, over the ensuing four years they did not report the abuse to police. On March 4, 2022, after pleading guilty to 3rd degree sexual assault of a child, Mr Toews was sentenced to 18 months in state prison followed by 5 years of supervised release.

Mennonite Abuse Prevention is a small Virginia-based nonprofit that works to document sexual abuse in Mennonite communities. When MAP learned, in March 2022, of how the church leaders handled the Leslie Toews case, Church of God in Christ Mennonite was already on their radar. “[I had] already looked at the Texas and BC cases separately.”, wrote Jason Miller, MAP’s Research Director, in an email referencing two other cases where ministers within the denomination had failed to report sexual abuse of minors. “We typically don’t post cases of abuse by non-leaders, but because these four cases all involved failure to report, we thought it was important.”

The four cases referenced in the report took place at different congregations across the United States and Canada. In 2008, a judge reprimanded ministers for not reporting the abuse of a minor for years. “They have known about the sexual abuse of this young woman for 18 years and did nothing about it.” In 2010, Minister Staven Schmidt of El Campo, Texas pleaded guilty to charges stemming from failing to report the sexual abuse of a minor. Then, in 2016, a former member of the Bonners Ferry, Idaho congregation filed a lawsuit alleging that church leaders failed to report that he was being molested by his father. After they knew of the abuse, he alleged, they did not report it to police. This resulted in the abuse continuing for years. The church settled the lawsuit out of court in 2017. MAP’s investigation revealed that as a part of that settlement every congregation explored local mandatory reporter laws and declared that they would be in compliance going forward. However, that same year ministers at the Almena congregation learned of sexual abuse of a minor and did not report it to authorities.

As part of their investigation, MAP reached out to the Church Incorporation Board, who provided copies of official policy documents outlining how sexual abuse allegations are to be handled within the church. These documents show that members are required to report sexual abuse to clergy rather than to police. Ministers must then determine whether a crime has occurred and must report sexual abuse to relevant authorities. Incorporation board member Shawn Giesel said in an email discussion with MAP that he “does not know enough to comment on the Toews case”, and that the church takes sexual abuse very seriously. However, he acknowledged that he knows of no policy in place for disciplining ministers who do not follow church policies.

The MAP report is the latest in a string of controversies for the church. On May 29, 2021, Hannah Prosser, a former church member, published a memoir alleging that church leaders in Tennessee knew she was being physically abused by her father. “Multiple Holdeman Mennonites were aware of what was being done to me, yet no one reported it. Instead, I was made out to be mentally ill; a liar,” she wrote. In April, 2022 the church was rocked with the news that Nathaniel Peachey, a church leader in Fulton, Kentucky had been charged with 1st degree sexual abuse. “In the Peachey case, his leadership position and church membership were removed as soon as the allegations surfaced,” church leaders told MAP. However, they say the abuse was not reported to police until after the church had dealt with him internally.

Car bomb kills at least three in Dagestan, Russia

Thursday, January 27, 2011

According to police, at least three civilians were killed and three others injured by a car bomb in the Republic of Dagestan in Russia.

Reports say the blast occurred outside the Karavan Cafe in Khasavyurt and only killed those inside the cafe.

An unconfirmed report says one of the injured died while receiving medical treatment.

There are nearly daily attacks in Dagestan from Islamic militants, wanting to form an Islamic state. The militants usually target police and other security officials.

Militants from Dagestan are suspected in an attack earlier this week at the Domodedovo airport in Moscow, killing at least 35 and injuring 110.

If you happen to find a home for sale in Sunrise that is also approved or Fannie Mac HomePath Mortgage and Renovation financing, you could put as little as 3% down on a home or condo for sale there and be reimbursed for much of that cost with this new Homebuyer Incentive Program. Now thats food for thought! This initiative should spark home sales in that area and improve the homes and condos conditions there over the next several years. This is one of the many newer incentives that we have seen happen for home buyers and investors in 2012.

Note that this new initiative is geared toward home buyers who plan to live there as their primary residence only. This is not an initiative that will benefit investors, which makes sense since distressed home sales make up the bulk of the real estate sales in Fort Lauderdale now anyway.

Here is the remainder of the memo sent out to Fort Lauderdale realtors this afternoon:

The New Homebuyer Incentive Program is administered by the Redevelopment & Grants Division of the City of Sunrise Community Development Department. In order to claim a rebate, homebuyers should:

Get prequalified for a conventional, fixed-rate mortgage or FHA mortgage

Work with their Realtor to find a single-family foreclosure or short sale in Sunrise

Get prequalified for the Citys New Homebuyer Incentive Program grant
